Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has still to be made public.

A persistent unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's identity.

Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence disproving her claim opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she was a teacher at his lycée.

The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
